5 Favorite Things Friday–Beauty Edition
With summer coming up, I am breaking out some of my favorite warm weather beauty items. My go to products in the summer usually are bright and fun and I love using make-up that helps create that dewy, sun kissed look. After-all, the point is to use items that help enhance skin without making it look too made-up. My top 5 are as follows:
- Nars Bronzer in Leguna, Sephora, $33. This brown-based bronzer with gold shimmer helps create a glowing, tanned skin look.
- Nars Orgasm Blush, Sephora, $27. This pinky-peach blush subtly highlights the face with gold shimmer accents and helps create a healthy flush. This shade is universally flattering and is one of the most popular selling colors.
- Nars Illuminator, Sephora, $29. This illuminator is a relatively new product. I just tried it and like it better than my Stila illuminator. The Laguna color works really well to hydrate skin and create a dewy, flushed look and it is also really pretty in the Orgasm color.
- Rosebud Salve, Sephora, $6. This salve is amazing at moisturizing and healing dry, cracked lips. It also works amazingly well at hydrating knees, elbows, and cuticles, and claims to help with diaper rash! It’s a an affordable, multitasking dream!
- Sally Hansen Salon Effects, Local Drugstore, $12.99. I am one of those people who normally does not paint my finger nails due to the long drying time and the peeling and chipping that occurs almost instantly. These are a time saving miracle. They just stick onto the nail and then need to be filed down. Super easy and they last a long time without the cracking, peeling, chipping, or mess that normal nail polish creates.
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen to Launch New Fashion Website
Having successfully launched clothing lines The Row, Olsenboye, and Elizabeth and James in the past, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are now setting their sights on new fashion website StyleMint.com with the help of MySpace founder Josh Berman. Similar to JewelMint, which sends an item of jewelry designed by Kate Bosworth and stylist Cher Coulter to you each month based on a personality/preference quiz taken at sign-up, StyleMint will do the same and send you Olsen designed fashion for a $29.99 monthly subscription. According to Women’s Wear Daily, the first round of designs to be offered will be a collection of T-shirts, which will include eight different styles and cuts. The site will also offer regular videos created by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. StyleMint is slated to launch come July, so fashionistas take note!

Stylish Must Haves From Stylist Christen Mitchell
I ran across Christen Mitchell Styling a few weeks back while scouring the web and instantly became mesmerized with the looks she puts together. A fashion stylist after my own heart, Christen Mitchell incorporates bohemian, edgy, feminine, and laid-back pieces into a stylish aesthetic that is earning her fast recognition on the Boston styling circuit. Though she might not yet be recognized as the next Rachel Zoe, I have this lady pegged to do great things in fashion. And if you think having a stylist is only for celebrities, think again. Christen takes everyday people and transforms their closets into something stylish and workable, all for prices that are really reasonable. After emailing Christen asking her for a guest post including a few of her essential items, she agreed! Without further ado, her she is:

Hi GorJess Fashion For Less readers!
I am so excited to be invited to share a few of my favorite things with you today. I am a full-time wardrobe stylist and image consultant. Although I live in Boston, I've been able to retain my own eclectic style that is highly influenced by West Coast beach culture and mixing high and low fashion in a very unique way. I love color, flowing dresses and accessories that make a statement. Below you will find a few of my favorite things. Some are already in rotation in my closet but most are still living on my wish-list. A girl can dream right?
Hope you enjoy and come check me out at www.ChristenMitchellStyling.com!

SpiritHoods 30% Off Sale
SpritHoods.com is having a 2 day, 30% off sale April 2-3 using code “likeathon” to help say thanks for the success of their Like-A-Thon, a fundraising effort for the World Wildlife Fund. Now, say what you will about this faux fur headgear made for those who long to be part of a “tribe” or those who just want to be fashionably different, but I have actually worn one of these super soft, comfy hoods and can attest that they are really cute in person, fashion forward, and will definitely get you noticed! The animal hoods are a celeb favorite, as seen on Vanessa Hudgens, Khloe Kardashian, Snoop Dogg, Audrina Patridge, Conan O’Brien, and Ke$ha to name a few. These are a fun head accessory for snowy, cold climates, so it’s a bit funny they’ve popped up in the LA area the most. They also have more subtle animal hoods, that are geared to those wanting a little more of a fashionable, chic look. What’s also great is a portion of the profits of SpiritHoods go to help Non-Profit Organizations dedicated to helping wildlife. Take a look at a few of my favorites and go grab yourself a piece of this wild and crazy action.
SpiritHood Night Owl, Reg. $129

SpiritHood Husky, $129
SpiritHood, NightHawk, $199
5 Favorite Things Friday
Here is my recap of my five best items of the week. I found a great maxi skirt, jeans, dresses, shoes, and more! Enjoy!
- Moonbeam Maxi Skirt, Free People, $148. This is a beautiful sheer maxi skirt made with mesh overlay and lace trim. Very fitting with the maxi skirt trend this season.
- Gypsy Silk Tie-Dye Long Maxi Dress, The Trend Boutique, $219. I love the gorgeous colors of this beautiful, flowy maxi dress. You can never have enough maxi dresses in my opinion.
- Sam Edelman Leroy Espadrille Wedge, Free People, $148. How adorable are these leopard print wedges. They are the perfect compliment to just about any outfit!
- Dolce Vita Coral Esadrille, Free People, $82. Coral is big right now and these shoes are the perfect way to incorporate a little pop of color into your wardrobe.
- Blank Denim Happy Trail 5 Pocket Belle Bottom Jean, Singer22, $75. As seen on Vanessa Hudgens, this brand of jeans was launched in 2007 and has managed to become a celebrity favorite without the premium price tag.
