Below is a list of my five favorite things of the week. Take a look and see if anything strikes your fancy.
Deena and Ozzy Tread Boots. I just bought these boots from Urban Outfitters and I must admit that I am loving them. They are so comfortable and edgy. They are the perfect pair of shoes to rough up a dressy outfit or to wear with jeans and a Tee. They are also currently on sale for $29.99 (Originally $68.00).
Frances Smily Modern Bride Tank. This tank is not very budget friendly at $120, but I have been lusting after it for awhile now. The chiffon material and cream color make it a perfect staple piece for any wardrobe. Wear it under bed jackets and cardigans in the winter or by itself with a pair of shorts in the summer.
Mimi Boutique Claudia Messenger Bag. I just love this Rebecca Minkoff Love Letters inspired cross body bag. The brown color is so versatile for any season. For only $60, I'll definitely be getting this. Use coupon code “SPICE” for an additional 10% off your order. Expires 3/1.
JewelMint Sanskrit Necklace. I saw this pendant in People StyleWatch and fell in love. I love the vintage feel of this necklace and bright colors. It is a perfect statement piece to add to any outfit. Bonus, use code Lucky11 for 50% off your first purchase.
Amanda Seyfried was spotted out in West Hollywood recently. I love that she wore an Urban Outfitters Tee, which is only $24, and Hudson Jeans (On sale). I don't necessarily love the way she put this look together, but I'm loving my alternatives! Get some of her exact look plus similar pieces for less below.
This is my first look of the day post. I was a little on the fence on this cardigan, which is why I was taking these pictures in the first place. After seeing the pics I’m starting to like it more. What do you think?
Who would ever think that you can make a rope necklace out of jump rope? Well, I didn’t until I saw a great DIY post by Moosette awhile back. Apparently, Dollar Store Crafts did a post detailing this exact project back in December. I was so impressed I decided to try it myself.
Two jump ropes from the dollar store
Two copper 1/2” plumping connectors and two 1/2” tube caps from Home Depot
Vanessa Hudgen’s has been spotted out wearing the Love Heals Leather Necklace on multiple occasions. I just love the bohemian look of this dark brown leather necklace with charms. I was going to try to do a Do-It-Yourself Post with this necklace, but the project ended up being a lot harder than it looked. Instead, I found a very similar style necklace at H&M for only $7.95. See the two styles below!
While shopping at Nordstrom Rack this past weekend I found more Winter Kate on sale! Finding these high quality silk pieces at such great prices always makes me happy! Take a look below to see what kind of finds you may spot at your local Nordstrom Rack!
Winter Kate Bea Cami, Nordstrom Rack, $54.97 (Regularly $135.00)
Winter Kate Dixie Dress, Nordstrom Rack, $89.97 (Regularly $225.00)
I have been on a beauty buying kick lately so I only thought it fitting to do my Five Favorite Things Friday post on, but of course, beauty. Below are a few of my recent (and future) purchases and a few of my favs!
Anastasia Lash Lifting Mascara. I have been hearing a lot of rave reviews about this mascara lately. It is supposed to perfectly coat each lash and offer zero clumping. This is also a favorite mascara of Kim Kardashian.
Stila Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer. This moisturizer, with its light diffusing pigments and shear color, is great at reflecting light and making your skin look and feel younger. I wear this moisture underneath my makeup daily. It’s also great to wear in place of foundation on those hot summer days. Another bonus is it has SPF 15, which will help protect your skin.
Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer. I have been buying primers lately left and right trying to find the perfect one. I currently am liking Stila’s hydrating primer, but this primer by Smashbox is next on my list. This product promises to “create a perfect canvas” for your skin. It contains antioxidants and vitamins and claims help prevent collagen destruction and fill in fine lines.
Mac Face and Body Foundation. I have been using this foundation for over a year now after seeing a recommendation by Makeup by Mario and I love it. It is incredibly moisturizing and lightweight, and works perfectly in the winter and summer. It contains several emollients to help condition and smooth. My skin always looks flawless. This is also a favorite of Nicole Richie.
LipFusion Lip Plump. I haven’t tried this lip plumper yet, but it is definitely on my list. This product claims to be “infused with revolutionary technology to plump lips instantly.” It is designed to use the body’s natural moisture to help plump up dry, cracked lips. It also has won the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval, plus it has excellent reviews.
One of my favorite online stores to peruse to find unique, one-of-a-kind items is Etsy. Etsy, for those of you that don’t know, features endless amounts of unique, homemade and/or vintage treasures, which can by sold by just about anyone. Think Ebay but without the bidding/auction format and with a much more eclectic twist. While browsing online yesterday, I compiled a list of a few of my favorites.
1. The first item that caught my eye was this cute tunic dress. I am loving the floral pattern, it is so perfect for spring and summer. It reminds me a lot of Free People style clothing. While not the cheapest item on Etsy, this dress by plumprettysugar was so adorable it had to be featured. Other items from this seller include floral dresses, handcrafted make-up/jewelry holders, and kimono robes.
2. I’m so on a feather earring kick right now if you didn’t already know from my DIY post a few weeks back. Below are two great pair of statement feather earrings by CosmoBeets that would definitely have you standing out in a crowd. This seller features an array of feather earrings, as well as unique headbands, necklaces, and leather cuffs.
Nicole Richie wore the Winter Kate Komodo Dress and Simone Leather Jacket at a recent event at Singer22. While her designer look is gorgeous, you can get her look below for a fraction of the price! Read below for details.
In tune with the spring trend toward all things bohemian, Gilt Groupe is having a "In Love With Fashion Trends: The '70s Continue" discount sale tomorrow at 9AM PST. The sale will feature items up to 75% off. Think blousy tops, platform wedges, boho bags, 70's style accessories, and body-hugging jumpsuits. I don't know about you, but I'm excited to shop this hippie inspired sale!
Here are the top 5 fashion items I am lusting over this week. Most are reasonably priced or on sale (lucky you)!

5. I love Lauren Conrad’s spring collection from Kohl’s (see a preview at The Budget Babe)! Take an additional 15% off your order from Kohl’s using promo code SENT2U15 (expires 2/14/11).
I have another DIY this week. This week’s inspiration came after I found a beautiful pair of Ben-Amun Tassel Earrings at Max&Chloe for $120. The look-a-like earrings are a pretty close second and with a cost of around $5, they can’t be beat! Surprisingly, these dangling earrings were also actually pretty easy to do.
Gold earring base with three loops at bottom (can be found at Michaels craft store)
Gold jump rings
Gold earring hooks
Needle nose pliers
You’ll need to use the wire cutters to cut the chain into 2 1/2 inch long strands. You’ll need three 2 1/2 inch chains for each loop on the earring base. With three loops per earring base, that means you’ll need to cut 9 chains per earring, or 18 chains total. You’ll also need 6 jump rings per earring, or 12 jump rings total.
Use the needle nose pliers to pry open one of the jump rings. Attach three chains to the jump ring. Repeat this step 5 more times, attaching 3 chains to 5 more jump rings. You should end up with 6 sets of chained jump rings. You should also have 6 remaining jump rings left over that are not attached to chains. Step 3:
Pry open one of the remaining jump rings that is not attached to a chain. Attach it to one of the jump rings with 3 chains attached. Then attach the open jump ring to the earring base and close. Repeat step 5 more times, twice more on the earring you are currently working on and 3 more times on the other earring. Step 4:
Pry open earring hook loop and attach to top of earring base. Repeat with other earring. Viola! You now have yourself a beautiful pair of tassel earrings!
Both earrings side by side:
